Artist Statement

Orlaith Delaney’s work explores how the often unseen but universally relatable themes of how individuals piece themselves together through routines within their daily lives. She does this through the lens of a female twenty something as a way of exploring societal pressures of identity, maturity and ‘having your shit together’.

In her most recent works, she uses graphite on paper and focuses on different portraits, activities, and scenes of the everyday mundanity, but all from a neutral standpoint. There is a sense of vulnerability and calm to each of her drawings offering the viewer a glimpse into the complexity of this state of mind.

Orlaith Delaney is an artist based in Waterford. She previously studied addictions studies at WCFE.
